CAST North Fork

Since 1965, CAST (Center for Advocacy, Support & Transformation) has been serving vulnerable and low-income individuals and families on the North Fork of Long Island. Color A Smile

ALL AGES

Organization that distributes cheerful drawings to nursing homes, hospitals, meals on wheels programs, our troops overseas, and anyone in need of a smile. Every month they mail thousands of new drawings to the recipients on their mailing list. Provides community service hours.

Cornell Cooperative Extension - Nassau

AGES 14-17

Extension staff and trained volunteers deliver education programs, conduct applied research, and encourage community collaborations. Their educators connect people with the information such as home horticulture; food and nutrition; positive activities for youth and families; finances; energy efficiency; economic and community development; and sustainable natural resources.

Habitat for Humanity
Long Island

Builds affordable homes in partnership with hard-working, local families. Habitat families help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage through Habitat's homeownership program. 16-17 years old teens need to be accompanied by an adult on a construction site.

Long Island Cares               

AGES 13-19

Provides nutritional food and support services for a network of more than 374 community-based member agencies, including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, child care programs, disability organizations, veterans' services programs and more. Teens participate in the Student Volunteer Corps program to serve the Long Island community.

Provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in Olympic-style sports for all children and adults with intellectual disabilities allowing them to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of skills and friendship with their families, fellow athletes and the community. U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary

Largest volunteer organization that serves a branch of the military. Its primary mission is to promote Recreational Boating Safety through Public Education, free Vessel Safety Checks, Marine Dealer Visitation and outreach at Public Events. There are 7 units called Flotillas that serve the Long Island area.
